“S&L ACERO” — engraved on the caseback, a mark of Serpico y Laino, Venezuela’s prestigious Rolex retailer, also renowned for Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. This Ref. 5036 carries that remarkable retailer provenance. The Dato-Compax story began in the late 1940s, powered by Rolex’s refined Valjoux 72C triple-calendar chronograph. From the early 4767 and 4768 came the 5036, followed by the long-running 6036 and finally the 6236 in 1958. A brief but extraordinary chapter in Rolex history.
