To ensure that all 2,000 pieces would pass chronometer certification, the Caliber 1040 was meticulously hand-tuned—reborn as the legendary Caliber 1041.

Ref. 378.0801 — Speedmaster 125 Chronograph

The defining cosmetic hallmark of this limited model lies in its TV case:
a flat, finely brushed frontal surface contrasted by a slender, high-polished bezel.

Beneath the thick mineral crystal, the inner black tachymeter bezel reveals itself—imbued with the very soul of Omega’s first automatic chronograph movement, Caliber 1040.
Its deep-set structure creates remarkable dimensionality, allowing the dial to breathe with depth and presence.

The tritium-filled bar indexes are designed to maximize legibility, while at 3 o’clock, a two-tone grey and black sector clearly distinguishes day and night within the 24-hour display.
At the center, the chronograph seconds hand is joined by the distinctive “airplane” hand—later repurposed as a date pointer in modern Speedmasters—here serving as a minute counter.
