An exceptionally rare Tudor “Rose” Submariner Ref. 7928.

Following the introduction of the 7922 in 1954 and the 7924 in 1958, the Ref. 7928 was produced from 1959 for approximately a decade. This model marked a significant evolution in the Tudor Submariner line, particularly with the addition of crown guards—a practical enhancement developed in response to the demands of the French Navy, who adopted these watches for military diving operations. The modification helped protect the crown from impact underwater, improving the watch’s durability and functionality as a professional diver’s tool.

This particular piece dates to 1962 and represents one of the rarer and more desirable variations within the 7928 lineage.

Throughout the early production years, the shape of the crown guards saw several changes. Among them, the Pointed Crown Guards (PCG) variant, as seen on this watch, is especially scarce and highly sought after.

Even more remarkable is the dial configuration: the rare “6-Dot” minute track at 6 o’clock, featuring pronounced luminous plots—known among collectors as the Big Dot variation. This specific dial layout is believed to have only been produced around 1962, making it exceptionally rare.
